A website isn’t just boxes and buttons – it’s all about content.

And Webflow’s CMS lets you structure that content like a pro – even if you’ve never touched a backend before 🫣

Unlike traditional site builders that treat everything as static blocks – or WordPress, where you pray your plugin stack doesn’t explode – Webflow gives you a visual but schema-based approach to managing content.

At the heart of it all are Collections – reusable content types that you can freely define based on your needs. For each Collection, you can define any number of properties, of fields.

eCommerce Plans (Add Store Functionality)

These are designed specifically for selling online – but still built on top of the above Site plans:

  • Standard – $29/mo: Up to 500 products, 2% transaction fee.
  • Plus – $74/mo: 1,000 products, zero Webflow fee.
  • Advanced – $212/mo: 3,000 products, 0% fee, team accounts, no limits on sales volume.

We were also befuddled by the pricing structure, but after doing some digging it turns out it actually makes sense, given the multitude of ways one can use this tool. To help everyone see the logic behind Webflow’s pricing plans, we’ve created a pricing chart which hopefully does a better job than a couple of paragraphs of text :)

Webflow loved it but since a year or 2 the support is slacking sometimes webflow support ignores questions on the forum about standard webflow features that contain bugs. Also webflow designer is getting buggier each week. And they dont seem to acknowledge it and it keeps getting worse. Ui elements not working. Projecr or changes not being saved unable to upload images

This tool used to be my most talked and promoted software i ever used also recommended it to everyone.

The only reccommendation i can give is: its a cool tool but dont know if their future proof platform seeems very unstable

hmm, haven’t noticed anything weird about the Designer lately.. which browser are you using?

alright, so after spending some 10 hours trying to create my first website I get what you mean by a “steep learning curve”. Once you get used to the toolkit, though, it gets quite natural. And its not really about turning CSS declarations into buttons, its just a much more advanced version of a cross between a contentn management system and a sitebuilder (WP is already moving into the latter direction anyway) which makes you feel more like a creator and less like a grease monkey endlessly adjusting this and that clunky function.

The video tutorials are great! I just wish the guy leading them talked a little more slowly. It’s hard to keep up with him during some of the more detailed sections.

In regards to the browser incompatibly issues, what steps are being taken to ensure that Webflow sites properly render in Firefox and Edge? I’m excited to use Webflow in my design studio but don’t feel comfortable charging clients for designs that don’t have cross-browser functionality. Please, o’ please have your peeps work this out. And soon! I want to use this awesome tool for some really great clients. Thanks!

they finally launched ecommerce features, might finally consider trying my next project on their platforma

Let me preface, I’m not a techie or a designer; I’m a business owner with some knowledge and I’ve created the websites for my three businesses using MUSE. MUSE on its way out the door (grrrr), after reading all the great things about Webflow, I went ahead and jumped in to learn it. I suppose it’s my fault for not digging deeper before getting through the frustrating learning curve at the beginning; getting the hang of things and started to enjoy it; creating a website and then getting ready to do the switch and finding out that if you upload your WebFlow site to another hosting partner, the CMS will not go be included in the upload; and if you decide to use WebFlow hosting, basic things like email are not available. One of my businesses has links to PHP jabbers booking system and another has an Ecwid ecommerce site; both these are paid for and running great, but totally incompatible with WebFlow assuming I go with their hosting.
I’m left feeling really lost and confused all over again as how to proceed.

Great post! I have been putting off looking into Webflow for over a year (which was late even a year ago) all because I have felt that between Pantheon and Elementor, I don’t need a new builder tool, but recent client experiences have led me to reconsider Webflow yet again. So THANK YOU for taking the time to put all this together, it has answered all the questions I had, and it has given me the last little push I needed. I will definitely be opening an account to start investing time to learn Webflow.

The one tiny thing I wanted to mention was that I don’t really think the builder interface not being 100% compatible with all browsers is a true ‘con.’ It’s a slight con, sure. We would all like to be able to use our favorite tools when it comes to building something, but most web developers have been forced to use Chrome for years as the primary development browser for a number of reasons. In my opinion, as long as the final websites that you can build with Webflow, are compatible with all common browsers, then the browser you use for design and development is just part of the toolset, some tools are better than others for a job. Given all the pros, I wouldn’t consider limited browser compatibility a con even if it was only compatible with Vivaldi.

I don’t the point in connecting your domain in Webflow because you cannot add tags in the export code popup.

I HAVE to do that after exporting the site so I may as well publish it to my own server while I’m at it. Also it sucks that you can’t import any code,

IF Webflow allowed adding code tags that are ‘remembered’, it would be a life saver for pro developers.

I resume once you create a site with this tool you are forever more stuck on their platform? Or could i transfer the site’s code to another host if they bump the prices up by 10 million quid?

To the best of our knowledge, right now it is possible to export the code (HTML, CSS and JS) and host it anywhere, but you won’t be able to export the CMS functionality, i.e. the actual database where your content types are being stored.

Im a bit confused as to how webflow works. if i chose, for example a cms site plan for 192.00/yr does this plan include hosting? And domain name is an addition yearly cost?

Hello Julio! Yeah, it can get confusing with Webflow :) to clarify, a CMS site plan essentially means advanced hosting for a single project (i.e. website). Among other things, it allows connecting your custom domain to your website – which you can also purchase through Webflow, at an additional cost (around $10 per year for .com domains, which is more or less a market standard price). With all that, you can stay on the Free account tier, which allows up to 2 projects (websites), or upgrade to a paid account plan if you need advanced features like enhanced staging and white labelling.

I’ve been using Webflow for about a month. Yes, there’s a lot to learn, but it’s a tremendously powerful tool and very easy to use once you have got over the initial familiarisation phase. Support staff have been speedy and very helpful in getting me on my feet.
