The theme uses slugs of the respective types as filter attributes; please try editing your types so that the slugs are in latin characters (this is also recommended from usability point of view, as the type archive URLs are generated based on the sugs as well). You can edit the type slugs in the “Portfolio -> Types” section of the admin panel. Please let me know if this helps!

I think I understand now; the reason why drop-downs haven’t been envisaged in the one-page design is purely usability – it is better to have one level of navigation in this case since additional layers might become confusing. In principle it is possible to introduce a drop-down that would still be a part of the one-page navigation, yet since the entire one-page nav menu is generated automatically from the pages included into the one-page layout, some code customizations would be necessary. In particular, one will need to change the code on lines 129-133 of the theme’s header.php (this code generates the one-page menu), adding a new ul element with a “sub-menu” class (so that it is recognized by the jQuery that animates the menu drop-downs). The ul element should probably be based on a conditional statement, e.g. in case the query reaches posts with certain IDs, it creates the drop-down. Inside this list should be the menu items which are needed as a drop-down, yet remember to still generate a proper anchor link for each, since otherwise they will not point to the desired sections of the one-page layout.

Hey Thomas, Aaron,

I’ve looked at Thomas’ website, and the reason why the Visual Composer wasn’t working properly was a third-party WYSIWYG editor plugin that was installed there – namely, “CKEditor for WordPress”. The Visual Composer is to be used with WP default TinyMCE editor, other plugins may have unforeseen conflicts with the VC. Thomas, I’ve deactivated the CKEditor plugin for now, please check that the VC is working properly, and let me know if there are still any issues.

Aaron, could you please tell me if you are using any third-party editor plugins together with the theme? Thanks!

You’re right, I need to update the Font Awesome scripts to the latest version, they’ve changed the classes in 4.0 for some reason; I will include the new version in the next theme update (3.2), meanwhile, you can download this archive, unzip it, and upload the resulting file into the following folder inside your WP install in order to activate Font Awesome 4.1:
/wp-content/themes/Ikebana/includes/font-awesome/css/

Please let me know if you have issues with updating the script!

Hey there!

this is an interesting question indeed, and not very commonly discussed by the WordPress community, as it seems. After some experimenting I’ve found a solution – please download this archive, unzip it, and upload the resulting file into the theme’s main folder (/wp-content/themes/Ikebana) replacing the existing file. Please let me know if ti works!
