PS. I have also been trying to use the ‘Posts Grid’ element from Visual Composer to display a selected group of pages. However I can’t seem to get it to work and I am wondering if it’s a bug? I purchased the Visual Composer plug-in, thinking that perhaps it would be a bug there and that maybe it would have been fixed in one of the latest updates. Unfortunately, to my disappointment, this didn’t fix the issue but instead messed up my pages and I ended up re-installing the version of Visual Composer that came with the Shogun theme.

Any ideas why this may be?

    Merci beaucoup!

    Worked like a charm! – you’re a legend Andrii! :-)

After adding your fix I decided to also add .fixed-header #logo { display: none !important; } as I would like to have the logo disappearing on scroll (due to tall centered layout). Now I’ll look into making the transition smooth also when the logo is hidden (it’s a bit bumpy at the moment). Anyway, all good! Thanks for your help!

    Cheers,

    Thanks Andrii,

I’ve now added the CSS code you kindly provided and it looks a lot better! (see for yourself here) – however only when the menu is toggled; when the menu is expanded the icon falls quite low and is not on line with the ‘shop’ menu point on the left side of the menu. Do you think there’s a way to adjust this so that ‘margin-top: -46px’ only applies when the menu is toggled?

    Thanks!

    Hi Andrii,

Thanks for your response and no worries re the wait – I am just pleased that you can help :-) Hope you enjoyed some nice days offline!

I’ve double checked that the “Deactivate fixed header” checkbox is definitely NOT checked, and the header is still not sticking. I thought that perhaps it could have to do with the rest of my header set up (ie. that it’s center aligned), but then I tried to left align it and it still didn’t stick. Do you think perhaps it could be something else about the set up that prevents it from working?

    Thanks,

Brilliant! It’s looking really good. Thanks!

Just working on making the overlay hover background green now. I reckon I’ll be able to do this myself, so please don’t spent any more time on this, however, if you can easily see where the problem is, then I’d be happy to know! :-)

Thanks! I owe you a drink!

    Thanks Andrii!

I’m now a little bit closer to get it to look like as on the photoshopped images I shared with you earlier on. However, I’m still not quite there; the titles aren’t showing when not hovered, the overlay (+title) is placed differently and similarly to on the text-based tiles (I want them as original, in the bottom, but only on those with a featured image) and finally, I can’t get the white background overlay to work (when not hovered). See for yourself: http://theme.alternativet.dk/

Please would you mind having a look at my child-theme CSS styles in case you can see what I’ve done wrong? Here it is: http://theme.alternativet.dk/wp-content/themes/Ikebana-child/style.css

I think it might be because the codes you gave me collide with the other changes I’ve made; (.iso-masonry .has-post-thumbnail .image-post-overlay) and (.iso-masonry .has-post-thumbnail .project-hover) VS (.iso-masonry .image-post-overlay.), but I’m not really sure, and if that’s the case, then I have no idea of how to get around that…?

Again, thanks! Your help is so very much appreciated!

    Best,

    Jonas

    Hi Andrii,

    Thanks for your quick reply!

I am super excited to hear that you think there might be a way to do this, and my apologies for not making the previous explanation too clear.

I’ve photoshopped three examples, which might help make more sense of it:

Example 1: No hover on site, but titles showing on all tiles with a featured image.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/3m1fpjj4il6a2zx/Example1_NoHover.jpg

Example 2: Hover on text tile ‘Medvirk’ – NB. the only thing that changes is the background colour.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/m65i0yqdxd96bwd/Example2_HoverOnMedvirk.jpg

Example 3: Hover on the large featured image tile – NB. The overlay background colour changes.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/xbkpc467qp4row3/Example3_HoverOnFeaturedImage.jpg

In my previous post I wanted the overlay on tiles with a featured image to completely disappear on hover, but after doing the photoshopped examples, I think it might be better to just make the background of the overlay go green as shown in the examples above.

So, just to clarify in regards to your questions:

“you want the portfolio grid items which have featured images to display a title on a coloured background on mouse hover”
    — Yes, but slightly different; display titles when not hovered (‘always’), but then make the background overlay change colour when hovered.

“And then, you also want the text-only grid tiles to not display anything on mouse hover? Or display just a coloured background?”
    — Yes, I would like to have only the background colour changing, whilst still showing the title. As it is now, except now it’s achieved by just copy-pasting the title into the excerpt so that it looks as if it’s only the background changing colour – which it isn’t…

Hope that makes more sense? If not, then please let me know and I’ll elaborate.

Thanks a lot! Having this change done would really do it for me!

    Hi again,

    Just another quick question :-)

I have now finally got the portfolio set up as I’d like it to be. However, I have realised that I’d like to also be able to show titles on projects with a featured image. So, here’s how I am thinking to work around it:

    1) Use excerpts as titles and make them always show, unless hovered, which will hide the excerpt and show the featured image alone.

    2) Somehow make the background change colour on text based projects (at the moment, I’ve just copy-pasted the titles into the excerpts as you can see here: http://theme.alternativet.dk/ – and made it look like as if it’s only the background changing colour, which isn’t really the case).

Do you think that’s possible, and if so, could you then perhaps give any advice on how to achieve this?

It might be that there’s a much simpler way to do it? Perhaps forcing the titles to appear (as the excerpts in the original style; with a semi-transparent overlay background box) on only the projects with a featured image…?

I know this might be much to ask for your help with, but if, by any chance, you see an easy solution to this, then your help will be very much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Jonas
