Hey Mike!
I’ve tested this combination of plugins with Kabuki, but the Twitter widget still functions as it should (on your website the plugin also seems to work well..). To troubleshoot, could you please try the following:
1). Remove the text widget with the Twitter code found under the Twitter widget and see if the issue is fixed.
2). Use Jetpack’s Twitter plugin instead.
3). Try disabling Jetpack (most of its functions are already covered by the theme anyway), and if this does not help, other plugins one by one, to find the culprit.Regarding the new version of the responsive mobile layout – your website’s current code suggests that you haven’t updated the lessframework.css file. Could you please try again, with this file?
Finally, I will ask my friends for an iPhone to figure out what’s wrong with the rendering there. However, I suspect that the issue might again be in Jetpack – if you could try the iPhone version with this plugin deactivated and the new lessframework.css installed, it would help me a great deal.
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterDear Nicola,
I would like to thank you for pointing out these issues because it has been a stimulus for me to work hard to resolve them! :)
I’ve fixed the compatibility issues in IE versions 10, 8, and 7. Moreover, following your comment on using the theme on touchscreen devices I’ve modified the intermediate responsive form of Kabuki, forcing the menu to always appear on screens smaller than 1024 px wide.I will definitely include the fixes into the upcoming Kabuki update (version 1.0.2). Meanwhile, if you need the fixes faster, please let me know and I will send you the modified files.
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterGreat to hear! :)
Do not hesitate to contact me should anything else pops up.
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterHey Mike,
After your comment I re-visited the mobile version of the slider navigation/caption block and arrived at (I think) a more consistent and usable mobile version of the theme (please see the demo). In case you want to implement this, please download the new lessframework.css, unzip it, and upload into the theme folder (/wp-content/themes/Kabuki/).
Regarding your question on the drop-down menus – I need to investigate this issue deeper, since I own an Android device and it renders the menus as they are supposed to be – i.e. black (see e.g. this screenshot from my smartphone). Could you please tell me which iPhone model you are using?
I must admit that the Twitter widget has been a pain for awhile – ever since Twitter changed its API and the old way of grabbing data stopped working. Nevertheless, some time ago I seem to have fixed the widget, and it is working quite well on all of my preview websites, e.g. on Kabuki blog page. To find the possible reason for the misbehavior of the plugin on your website, please tell me if you are using any third-party plugins with theme. In the meantime, you can use e.g. the Twitter widget provided by WordPress’ Jetpack plugin.
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterDear Nicola,
unfortunately Fuji does not allow having a different background for individual pages.
Regarding the customization work, I have sent you an email to the address you’ve indicated while registering here on the forums.
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterHey Agatha!
The way I display videos in the live preview of the theme is through a blog post format, i.e. the videos section is simply a blog, with individual video posts being blog posts. To achieve this, you’ll need to do the following:
1). Create a blank page to hold the blog posts; you can name it whatever you want :)
2). Go to “Settings –> Reading” and declare this page as the “Posts page” in the “Front page displays” section.
3). Create blog posts (“Posts –> Add New”), inserting videos e.g. via the media shortcode (see the manual, page 14, on how to use it).The blog page will also automatically have the sidebar, where you can list recent videos.
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterDear Nichibus,
thank you for bringing up these issues! I’ve fixed the menu in IE7 and IE8, as well as tried my best to remove the transparency bug in IE10 – please check out the theme demo, esp. regarding the last issue, since I do not have IE10 on my machine and thus have limited possibilities to check the results of my tinkering. I will definitely include the fixes into the next theme update, or in case you wish to purchase the theme, I will be able to send you the fixes to update manually.
Regarding the menu usability on touchscreens – could you please name the device (and model) on which you are viewing the website? The menu in Kabuki has been designed to fold back when the cursor leaves the menu area, no on click, thus you can try to “swipe out” of the menu into another area of the page to see if this will get the menu to slide up. Please let me know if this helps!
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterHey Mike,
first of all, thank you for the purchase!
In case you want to disable the responsive layout (i.e. the adaptation of the theme to smaller screens), please download this custom file I’ve made for you, unzip it, and upload into the theme folder (/wp-content/themes/Kabuki/), replacing the existing file. I would be very grateful if you could describe (or better still – provide a screenshot) in which way your website becomes messed up while viewing from the mobile device – this would help me to improve the theme for future version updates. Please also note that the menus should turn into drop-downs on mobile devices – this is a widely accepted part of responsiveness concept, and improves usability of the theme :)
Regarding the Twitter widget – this is a very peculiar bug! Could you please try changing the twitter username in the widget settings to any other username (e.g. “envato” or “satoristudionet”) – do the tweets display as intended then?
One piece of advice – I would recommend optimizing your background slider images, since currently they are quite large and take some time to load, which may annoy visitors. Your slider images are currently 3264×2448 pixels and 2.30 Mb, which is a lot by web standards. I’d recommend scaling them down to 2560×1600 pixels, which is enough to cover 99.9% of the possible screen sizes; this will both reduce the size and increase the loading speed for the website.
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterHi Nichibus,
Thank you for taking interest in my themes!
Let me answer your questions one by one:
1). Kabuki’s design did not imply menu icons from the start; if you need icons to appear in the menu items, this can in principle be done, yet in case you would want me to do it, I would have to charge additionally for that since I classify this type of work as theme customization.
2). For usability reasons, Kabuki does not have a recent posts slider; again, in case such modification is needed, it should be viewed in the theme customization context.
3). The menu can be left visible through the Theme Options panel. There is also an option to show the menu items stretched according to the length of the text (as in the demo) or have a fixed width; this option can go in any combination with the menu visibility option.
4). Different colours for individial menu items are not supported from the back-end, yet this can be achieved by inserting a couple of lines of code. This part is quite easy to achieve thus I can help with this as a part of free theme support.
5). Kabuki, as my other themes, can indeed be used with the Multilingial plugin.
Sincerely,
Andrew | SatorisatoriKeymasterHi Coffeemilkfun!
Let me go over your questions one by one:
1). I’ve updated Sensei just yesterday to version 1.1, and among the fixes it contains an improved header choice algorithm – please update to 1.1 and also – in case your home page is a blog, be sure to check the “Show custom header on blog-posts page” option in the “Heeader” tab of the Theme Options panel.
2). The sidebar widget problem is very peculiar! Could you please tell me if you are using any third-party plugins? And better yet – I would be able to troubleshoot and fix even faster if you could send me the admin login/password to support@satoristudio.net (no disclosure guaranteed).
3). As a matter of principle, I do not use any additional plugins in any of my theme previews – to make sure that the visitors see that everything done in the preview can be achieved from the theme’s built-in functions, out-of-the-box. The fact that the theme demo has fancybox is because I’ve integrated the code into my theme – which means that you can uninstall the plugin and still use all the features :) in case you want to fine-tune the settings for the fancybox, they are located in “Settings -> Media”. ..I guess I should be more explicit on this one in the theme manual, thank you for bringing this up!
Sincerely,
Andrew | Satori -
