Recent Posts Slider

Hello!

First of all, what a fantastic theme; I’m certainly going to keep Satori in mind for my future WP theme needs. The functionality has been beautiful, the instruction manual is very thorough and helpful, and I haven’t had any problems except one little one:

I’m trying to get the Recent Posts Slider to work and it is not happening. I have selected recent posts slider in the theme options and I have adjusted the settings in the Recent posts slider admin panel. However, nothing is showing up, just a big white box without any text or any images.

Could you please post a screenshot of your Recent Posts Slider settings page (“Appearance -> Recent Posts Slider”)? You can use online image services such as http://postimage.org or http://tinypic.com for your convenience.

Dear Awall,

the most probable “candidate” I see from your setting page is the “Category IDs” field – please note that post IDs and category IDs are not the same thing in WordPress – the latter are typically in single digits, so the ones you’ve filled most probably do not exist. To find out the category ID(s) you need, please visit the “Posts -> Categories” menu, click “Edit” on the category you need, and look at the URL of the page: the number after “&tag_ID=” is what you’re looking for.

Hey Andrew,

I went and double-checked and confirmed that the category IDs are correct. This was the Url: http://rawcandor.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?action=edit&taxonomy=category&tag_ID=473&post_type=post

What else could it be?

Dear Alex,

one more thing worth checking before I ask for your admin credentials: since you have only “thumbnails” selected for the Recent Posts Slider, please check if the posts in the concerned categories do have featured images (see the Manual page 4 on how to set featured images for posts) – otherwise the slider will return empty images. If this does not help, please provide your admin username and password to support@satoristudio.net – I will take a closer look at the back end and do my best to solve the issue!
